Hand Analysis: 3-Five
In my local home poker game the 3 5 offsuit is fondly known as ‘Magic,’ for the way it sees to have so many times crushed huge poker online hands in large pots. One of my best poker buddies became renowned for playing this hand and making straights as regularly as you could ever ask, against aces, against kings, and each time getting paid well much to the fury of his opponent. Making a pet of a online poker hand like 3 5 seems reckless when you actually see it getting shown down for a lot of money, but in a general perspective it is fairly conservative if you play it correctly. When you miss with 3 5 you rarely find ways to get stuck, and making a straight (as seems to always happen where we deal) can pay you greatly. The other benefit of becoming known for a strange hand as such is that people will begin to fear you have it when you don’t, if the board reads that it would be a monster. Milking that apparition can lead to big laydowns from your opponent when you represent a hand only you could have. As long as you aren’t investing too much in one spot against the odds, 3 5 isn’t as bad as it looks.
