No Council Approval yet for Battersea Power Station Project
There is no indication that the mega project proposed to be developed on the abandoned Battersea Power Station site will begin anytime soon. The plans are still awaiting approval from the Wandsworth Council
The planning application for the development was submitted a while back to the relevant officials at the council. However, so far there has been no indication forthcoming from the council regarding its approval. Developers are hoping that the plans are approved soon, as this will transform the area into an architectural and infrastructural showpiece on the lines of the Sydney Opera House. The plan involves building of a commercial hub over a massive 8.3 million square feet of area for shared offices with an estimated pricing of £5.5b.
The plans also include construction of a residential hub. In addition to this, there will be a hotel, restaurants and shops within the premises. In all, the site when fully developed will offer a multifunctional commercial complex. The North Line, on extension, will offer good connectivity to the site and enhance the value of property. The completed project will offer a complete range of services to the US Embassy workers who will be moving in.
A zero carbon power station will also be constructed, the chimneys will be renovated, and the original turbine rooms will be used as exhibition halls.
